OUR BUSH RUN & WALK 2012

RAISED OVER $50,000 FOR STAND BY YOU

Over 500 people participated in our hugely successful Bush 5/8km run & 5km walk on Saturday 6th October 2012.

An amazing result from sponsors and participants, with over $51,000 raised for Stand By You. Stand by You Cancer Foundation is a registered charity committed to providing short term financial assistance to people living with cancer, their family and carers.

Both runs started at The Briars Historic Park and runners crossed the grounds of this picturesque property to bush tracks which lead them back to Citation Oval for a commemorative ceremony. The relaxing walk wove through the beautiful landscape of Balcombe Estuary Boardwalk finishing with an uphill clamber on to Citation Oval where the walkers cheered on runners crossing the line.

Finish line entertainment included fun appearances from James Brayshaw from the Footy Show, Ketut from the AAMI ad and the AFL Melbourne demons mascot. A commemorative ceremony was held in memory of Jake Rolls and those who had lost their battle, those who had won the fight and those who were currently fighting cancer. Symbolic butterflies were released by members of the Whatever It Takes Committee, the Rolls Family and important people who contributed generously to get this event off the ground.

Overwhelming support at our first event will never be forgotten!
