190 guests attended our Splash of Black Gala Dinner on the 29th November 2014 at the Gunamatta Room, Mornington Racing Club.
An amazing result from sponsors, guests and businesses that donated, with over $17,500 raised for Melanoma Patients Australia (MPA). MPA are a “patient driven, non profit organisation that offers a national network of support and information to patients, their families, carers and friends, about melanoma prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment”.
Guests united in a splash of black, the awareness colour of Melanoma, dating back to the early 1800’s and comes from the words melas (black) and oma (tumour). The colour set the theme for the night which had a focus on Melanoma awareness and remembrance.
The night held a number of surprises for guests; a touching story of a battle with Melanoma from Scott Stephens, a short video by Whatever It Takes called Eliza’s Plea and an emotional song by Bek Turnbell written about Jake Rolls who lost his battle to Melanoma in 2011.
The Splash of Black Gala Dinner 2014 was certainly a night to remember!
